We found a new daycare for Luke!!! I feel so good about this place. I am really sad that he will not be with me at work anymore but there are so many other benefits to the new place - the biggest being the money factor - it is going to save us almost $600 a month!!! He will start sometime in the beginning of January.
Over the next few days a I have a lot of running to do. Here is the plan:
Today - 3 miles
Tomorrow (Thanksgiving!) - 90 minute bootcamp blast in the morning
Friday - 4 miles
Saturday - 5 miles
Sunday - 4 miles
At least I will be burning a lot of calories :) I have been feeling rather lazy so far this week. When I get last I start feeling pudgy.

Last I would like to note that Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. I don't cook so there is really nothing for me to do but show up and eat. I also love that involves no presents. I love getting gifts but I totally stress over getting other people gifts. Don't get me wrong. I love getting presents for people but I hate figuring out what to get everyone. I have no idea what I am going to do for Christmas yet.

We are officially looking for a nanny or a new daycare. We are going to see a daycare on Tuesday. It is another center but much smaller then the one he is in right now. There are about 200 kids in the center he is currently at and the one we are going to see only has 37. The only downside of this new daycare is that it is closer to our house which means it is no where near my work. On the plus side, it is cheaper, my mom will be very close and Chris is still at home so he can be there in 5 minutes if anything were to happen. I am really getting my hopes up for this place. I hope we don't show up to find it a dump.
Tomorrow is our 2nd team run - 4 miles! I did manage to get a run in the other night and I felt really good. I hope I can continue to improve :)

Lot's Happening

So much is going on. I am completely overwhelmed.
Last week I was feeling a little better about Luke's situation in daycare because I had a good discussion with the director and they seemed to really want to work with us to make daycare a safe place for him. Well, yesterday I visited a toddler room during lunch and left in tears. I was there for 15 minutes and in that time I saw 3 kids spill thier milk. 1 kid spilling was my biggest fear but to see 3 kids do it pushed me over the edge. I hate to say it but I think we are going to have to get a nanny. At least for a year or so until Luke's allergies are under control or until he is old enough to know what he can and can't have. I have about 7 weeks to make a decision, find a nanny and train her. I am going to a support group tonight for Luke's allergies. I am really hoping it helps.
Work is crazy. This is stressful but a good thing. Days are flying by. Can I just say - I have the BEST manager in the world. He has been so patient and helpful with all of my issues of Chris being laid off and Luke's allergies and Dr.'s appointments.
Because of all that is goin on with work and Luke I am already starting to fall behind on my marathon training. I need to try to sneak 3 miles in tonight between work and the support group meeting. I hope my old gym will let me stop in and use a treadmill for a bit.

Friday

Today has been a much better day. We have figured out an action plan to ensure Luke doesn't have any more reactions at daycare. I hope it works.

The highlight of my day is always going to visit Luke at lunchtime. I love the look on his face when I walk in to room. I love that he crawls as fast as he can to come see me. This week I have been taking him out of the room at lunch and into the big play area at his daycare. We have the whole area to ourselves and he has a blast having extra room to run (crawl) around.

Tomorrow is my first team traning run. The plan is to run 3 miles. I hope I can sort of keep up with the group. I always hated being the last to finish last time I trained. The weather is supposed to be rainy and cold. I guess that will be my motivation to hurry up and get back inside.

On a brighter note I am at $1440 for my fundraising! only $1800 to go to meet the minimum :) I really hope to finish fundraising soon so I can just concentrate on training.

Allergies

I am on the verge of tears. Luke had another allergic reaction yesterday. He got a hold of another child's sippy cup with milk in it and we ended up in the hospital again.
Luke has a severe allergy to milk and a mild allergy to egg. We have been to the ER with him 6 times now and have had to use an epi-pen 3 times.
I am very frustrated with his daycare. I don't feel like it is being taken seriously enough. I am going to start to look for alternate daycares or childcare providors. It makes me really sad to think about moving him. He is with me right here at work now. I go and see him almost every lunch.
I wish I could win the lottery and stay home with him everyday.

Today is 11/11 and I have created this blog to track my marathon training and other things happening in my life.

We officially started training last Sunday. My team will be doing long runs on Saturday mornings together. We start at 3 miles this Saturday (11/14) and will be increasing 1 mile per week for the next 20 or so weeks. I have a lot of work ahead of me! Today is technically day 4 of training and so far I have stuck exactly to the training plan :)
Not only do I have a ton of work to do to prepare for the race, I also have to raise $4,000! I am a very slow runner so there is no way I could actually qualify for the Boston Marathon. This is why I am doing it through a charity. There is so much support through this charity that it totally makes it worth it.
On another note we are bringing Luke (my 14 month old son) to the Ear, Nose, and Throat Dr. today. We are having his hearing tested and we are going to talk to the Dr. about possibly having tubes put in his ears to help avoid so many ear infections. Whatever we decide I hope he spends less time sick this winter.
